What Is Your Touch Diet? What do hugs, high fives and massage have in common? They are all nutrients that make up our Touch Diet! Along with daily water intake, nutritious food, fresh air and movement, we all need healthy touch in order to thrive and feel safe and vital within our lives. Touch benefits us by slowing our heart rates and lowering blood pressure, calming us quickly and enhancing our ability to think more clearly and make better decisions. Studies have shown that receiving touch improves subsequent performance in testing and competitions. Touch lowers the levels of stress hormones (such as cortisol) in our bodies, which has dynamic and far-ranging effects upon our overall health and our weight. Receiving touch encourages us to breathe more deeply and fully enter the moment, allowing us to enjoy our bodies and our lives as they are. Truly, touch benefits us all in myriad ways. If your touch diet needs some "beefing up", book a massage today! I have later evening hours and limited Saturday availability to make it easier than ever for you to nourish yourself with touch. You can do so here: http://www.danawyss.com/ Below, I've included links to a few articles that I've found interesting about touch, how it benefits us to give and receive it, and how to incorporate more safe and healthy touch into our lives. I hope you enjoy them! http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/wellness/advice/a18235/health-benefits-of-touch/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kindness-blog/touch-as-nutrition_b_6530658.html?1424719721 https://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/201302/the-power-touch http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/14/the-power-of-touch-physical-contact-health_n_3253987.html Be well, take good care, and give some hugs today, dear clients!
