Love what you've got!

When we're working towards a goal, changing patterns and habits, reaching towards a future that looks a little brighter than today, it's easy to miss it. In our focus on growth, it's easy to overlook.
You? Right now? You're a wonder.
You are an absolute wonder, whose existence in this moment is evidence of millions upon trillions of things going perfectly right.
Try something with me: place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly.
Feel the movement of this beautiful breath, which you need more than anything else to survive. It's right here, simply happening. You didn't even have to ask for it.
Feel the beat of your incredible heart. Did you have to manage that? Did you have to remind yourself to ensure it happened? Such a wonder.
Your magnificent body is currently doing thousands of complex and important things, more or less perfectly, and allowing you to experience all kinds of incredible things on this earth.
Friend, that is something to let yourself notice, and deeply appreciate.
The physical ability you have, right now? Notice it. Don't miss it.
Let yourself appreciate all your body allowed you to do today, this week. Really notice everything you were able to experience because you can see, or hear, or walk, or play, or lift, or knit, or sit, or garden, or hug, or squat, or drive, or cook...as well as you can, right now.
As you feel into the experiences that your current level of health and ability allowed you to participate in, does one feel especially invigorating or enlivening?
Spend some extra time recalling that experience in your body and mind, really feeling the sensations that come alive within you as you do. Savor these sensations, and steep in them for awhile.
Notice how you feel after spending just a few moments, or a few breaths, in this kind of active appreciation for what you have right now. Notice your mood after doing this. Notice your energy level.
Every day, within the boundaries of your own skin, there are countless marvels of coordination, creativity, strength, and capability. Let yourself start to notice and to relish some of these...and see what new gifts start to show themselves.
Be well until next time.
